at the well-known Fritshe Gym for years. A former active wrestler and lifter, he has maintained remarkable fitness. Art is 47 years old, and has the physique of a man of 27.

STRENGTH AND HEALTH

Bruce Christman, Fairport, N. Y., combines rowing with weightlifting. He is very strong, as evidenced by a 405 lb. squat and Olympic lifts of 235-230300. He took a third in the recent NY State WL Championships.

Marcel Major also hails from Fairport, N. Y., and trains with Christman. He also won a third place in the N.Y. Championships. He is 5'8", weighs 170, chest 44, arm 154. His lifts are 205-195-270.

Success Success is a word with many meanings.

To some people it means money in the bank and a Cadillac car; to others it means a life of service to others; to still others it may mean the ability to punch somebody you don't like in the nose. Even to the striving barbell bug the word has many connotations. Some want to get as big as a house, with lumps all over them; other want to develop a fine, symmetrical body; others want health and superb fitness; some want to become weightlifting champions; some want to excel in their chosen sport but whatever your reason

for building a better body, we are with you, and these pages are for you.

We are proud of our various Success Story subjects this month, because they come in such variety -some young, some mature--in all the varrying stages of development from the Beginner to the Finished Product. What boy wouldn't like to develop as strong a body as young Ray Mitchell shows, with strength enough to press far over bodyweight? And what man in his forties wouldn't like to look like Jay Paganelli and Art Schweitzer? To say nothing of our two oarsmen from the Finger Lakes and that magnificently built young Swede.

Success Stories is a department for everybody and we are always keenly interested in seeing photos of barbell built men and boys who are beginning to make the grade. Your picture here may serve to inspire a beginner somewhere to take up training and become stronger, healthier and more capable of success in any field in which he wishes to excel.

Tom Suggs trains at Leo Murdock's Austin Health Club, down Texas way. This young lad is developing very fast, and already has the symmetry and the muscle structure of a finished. athlete.
